Including an opening assembly and workshops for all year groups, this Big Science Day explores the diversity, wonders and workings of the animal kingdom – and ties into science strands that each year group will be investigating at some point over the school year. 

 

Workshop Description

Big Science: Animals Including Humans can accommodate the whole of up to a two-form entry school in a single day.

Assembly: what makes an animal an animal?

EYFS: the animals - and colours – of the woods.

Year 1: animal diets – from the dinosaurs to humans!

Year 2: foods chains in the savannah.

Year 3: what our bones do- and why they matter.

Year 4: the Great Digestive Machine – from food to poo.

Year 5: Human Timelines – from babyhood to, eventually, old age.

Year 6: evolution and the story of Charles Darwin.

How many pupils can take part?

Up to 420 pupils over the course of the day. 

What is the format of the day?
The day involves outdoor based workshops, each one accommodating up to 60 pupils at a time. We will plan a timetable to suit your requirements, based on the number of classes you would like to take part. Your visitor will be based outside, with classes attending workshops in turn.
