May 6th will see something most of us have never experienced before: a coronation. And the pomp and glory of the formal accession of Charles III, of course, offers the perfect opportunity to reflect on some of the other kings and queens who have made their mark on history. Which is where Happy and Glorious comes in – an active and engaging exploration of monarchs and the monarchy for every primary school year group!
"Our pupils loved the workshops and the assembly and joined in enthusiastically. Students gained some great history knowledge from the workshops and a sense of occasion that the Coronation is a very special event. Jackson was fantastic - he had a fantastic relationship with the pupils and delivered with knowledge and enthusiasm. We would definitely have another As Creatives day in the future." St Jude's Catholic Primary School
“We enjoyed the workshops tremendously. The children learnt a great deal, in an interactive and engaging manner. They gained the intended knowledge from the year specific workshops. They gained a sense of enjoyment through the drama activities and were able to talk, at length, about their activities afterwards. Jo was fabulous and made the day very special for all the children.” Cloverlea Primary School
Able to accommodate the whole of up to a two-form entry school in a single day, Happy and Glorious opens with an interactive, whole-school assembly (which can be streamed if needs be), looking at the meaning, structure and content of a coronation, while the workshops harness age-appropriate, drama-based techniques to support the children in exploring the lives and reigns of some "landmark monarchs" ...

Happy and Glorious also comes complete with some great supporting resources ...
- A follow-up writing activity for every year group, complete with printable writing frameworks and full instructions for teachers ...
- Bullet-pointed suggestions for further follow-ups - for every year group.
"All the pupils (and staff!) loved the workshops. They were enthusiastically delivered and were made accessible and engaging for all the year groups. They enjoyed the way they were interactive and could get moving in a fun way but were still learning! The children gained knowledge about the kings and queens throughout history within the UK within the whole school assembly and then went on to discover more about the time within a topic in year groups. These were fantastic as there were links to their current and prior knowledge and historical understanding. We'll be looking to book more workshops in the future. Thank you from us all at Blacklow for a wonderful day!" Blacklow Brow Primary
