Our third year supporting Newton High School saw us developing IAG Ambassadors, a programme in which a cohort of Year 9 students and their teachers worked together to explore the worlds of imagination, advice and guidance.

After challenging their own aspirations, looking beyond the expected, the students considered what they would need to do to achieve them – then received training in ambassadorship to enable them to pass on what they had learned about post 16 pathways to others. Alongside this, they collaborated in the construction of a giant geodesic dome – which they covered in visual representations of their discoveries. They presented this at events they designed for staff, parents/carers and their year group – before supporting teachers in planning and delivering presentations for citizenship lessons.

“It’s been three years since we first worked with as creatives – and, yet again, you’ve surpassed our expectations. We’ve got eighteen children here who are ready to go as “IAG Ambassadors” – and a body of staff that you’ve empowered to carry on the work!” (Deputy Headteacher)

“I’m eager to tell everyone about what I have learnt and share my knowledge too. I have got some techniques on how to keep my confidence too!” (Year 9 student)

IAG Ambassadors was commissioned by Newton High School and supported with funding from Curious Minds.
