Our commitment to harnessing the knowledge and experience of stakeholders, whether a group of housing association residents or teenagers affected by gun crime, has enabled us to guarantee our designed resources are both relevant and of real value. By engaging groups in our consultation workshops, and applying what we have learnt from these sessions, we have designed booklets, created short films, composed songs and even produced an original board game that have successfully supported our clients to realise their own aims.
Arts Award
The Arts Award delivered by Trinity College London, is a brilliant opportunity for children and young people to have their arts practice both acknowledged and accredited. In need of an engaging method for participants to record their progress Trinity asked us to design exciting log books which could also offer a creative means of moderating achievement in the award.
Terries Resource
Schools loved this Royal Court Liverpool touring production, which tackled gun crime and sexual exploitation, and teachers were always asking for follow-up activities. Working with teachers and groups of young people affected by the subject area we designed a series of lesson-plans to further explore the topic meaning the play had a more and lasting impact.
Face Facts
Moving On With Life and Learning work tirelessly to support adults with learning disabilities - and launched the FACE Facts campaign to both promote awareness of and prevent hate crimes committed against such people. After leading consultatory workshops with service users, volunteers, secondary school students and teachers to explore how a schools' resource could further this work, we developed, designed and produced a comprehensive Teachers' Pack offering a wide range of ways to tackle the subject.
Villages Housing
Villages Housing were keen to better educate their residents about the importance of using energy efficiently in their homes, in order to be ‘greener’ as an organisation but also to save residents money. A local residents group were fairly cynical about their role in this to begin with, but through our series of workshops became instrumental in getting the message out to their peers. They played a key role in the design of this original board game which Villages housing then supplied to all the primary schools in their area.
The New
Over two years, and funded by the Cultural Leadership Programme, a group of North West arts organisations, The New, worked together to share experiences and explore a range of leadership models. We were commissioned to design and illustrate a resource resulting from this work, packed with case studies and reflective questions from participating organisations: Chinese Arts Centre, Contact, 20 Stories High, Whitworth Art Gallery and Zion Arts Centre.
Art is Everywhere
Arts Award encourages children and young people to take part in a wide variety of artistic activities. So Trinity College London commissioned us to compose and record "Art is Everywhere", an original song with orchestrated accompaniment, to demonstrate the breadth of the participatory arts.
