Following the extraordinary success of Easter’s The Extraordinary World of Chocolate, we had two wonderful weeks in the summer of 2011 when we helped children aged 8 – 11 explore The Extraordinary World of Making Stuff.
We had a fantastic time supporting them in using their imagination, initiative and interpersonal skills in creating paintings, illustrated books, sculptures, masks, plays (including an excerpt from “Macbeth”!), films and animations. In a uniquely child-led approach, both themes and approaches were selected by participants – Sasquatches and Other Extraordinary Creatures being chosen for Week 1, whilst Week 2 saw a focus on Spells and Sorcery. The children have suggested The Extraordinary World of Spooky Stuff for the October half term. For the first time, this will be open to children up to the age of 13 – so watch this space!
“No other kids’ club or holiday activity has ever inspired my children as much as this – and I have seen a positive impact on their behaviour at home as a result of the work you’ve done with them!” Parent
“I absolutely love as creatives and if you’re working and you cannot look after your kid that is the place to go. It helps develop your child’s creative skills!!!!! It is the best place ever – so go there!!!!” Participant
Note to Schools: We can compress elements of both The Extraordinary Worlds of Chocolate and Making Stuff to fit other timescales and budgets. Please contact us for more information
