We've spent some time creating digital versions of some of our most popular programmes; allowing teachers to deliver them themselves, without us ever needing to set foot in your school. Each one comes complete with full instructions for teachers, opening and closing films, “flagship” activities for each year group from Reception to Year 6 / P1 - P7 and supporting and thematic literacy and maths resources. If all the activities are used, each package offers more than two hours of activity for every class in the school, so they represent amazing value for money!

Furthermore, in the event that schools are closed  your pupils can still take part in the activity. Along with details of how to deliver it in class, there are full instructions for how it can be shared by children learning at home.

You can also opt to have an As Creatives Live streamed session over Zoom (or any digital platform your school is using) – and you can choose from any of our CSI: Maths programmes as well as CSI: Reading Skills, Poetry Live and Streamed Shakespeare.

The Race into Space

The search is on for the UK's next astronaut – and Major Tom wants your pupils' help in selecting the best person for the job. He’s found six well-suited candidates, all with different qualifications – but it’s up to you to decide which one will win The Race into Space!

Probably the most challenging of our maths programmes, The Race into Space comprises a range of different activities, giving children opportunities to extend their mathematical thinking in context and explore some of the links between maths and science. In its digital format, it allows you to choose to either present it in one discrete block – or over the course of a number of days. If all the activities we provide were undertaken, classes would be engaged for between two and three hours.

The digital pack includes …

  • Two short films, to open and close the adventure …
  • Seven PowerPoint-based, whole-class activities (one for each year group), exploring age-appropriate examples of maths and science “crossovers”…
  • Printable Question and Answer Sheets for a range of questions linking maths with the science of space (all age-differentiated) …
  • Two activities combining maths with literacy (with printable Writing Frameworks).

“Our pupils absolutely loved having “Neil Armstrong” in school for the day, the workshops were really engaging and further embedded the pupils’ knowledge about the moon and the moon landing. It was a brilliant day that the children thoroughly enjoyed.”  Canons Primary School

Riddle of the Sphinx

The Riddle of the Sphinx

Our resident archaeologist, Dr Colorado Smith, has returned from Egypt with some exciting news: she's now collected all the clues required to solve the age old Riddle of the Sphinx - and open the Inner Sanctum in the Valley of the Kings. But as she can't do it by herself, she's on the lookout for schools to use their understanding of concepts of “measurement” to help her!

With a range of different activities, The Riddle of the Sphinx offers children contextualised, engaging and age-differentiated opportunities to further develop their understanding of “measurement”. The digital format that we’ve put together allows you to choose to either present it in one discrete block – or over the course of a number of days. If all the activities we provide were undertaken, classes would be engaged for between two and three hours.

The digital pack includes:

  • Two short films from Dr Colorado Smith, to open and close the adventure
  • Seven PowerPoint-based, whole-class activities (one for each year group), exploring age-appropriate aspects of measurement
  • Printable Question and Answer Sheets for a range of measurement-based maths questions (all age-differentiated)
  • Two measurement-based literacy activities (with printable Writing Frameworks)

The Benefactor

Eccentric millionaire Benny Factor has amassed a fortune over the last few years – and it’s now time to give something back to a village that’s very close to his heart: Amberton. The trouble is, though, that with so many community groups within the village to choose from, he can’t quite decide how to carve his money up! And that’s where you come in, as your pupils help him draw up a series of budgets …

Featuring a range of different activities, The Benefactor provides children with great opportunities to practise their understanding and skills with money in engaging and entertaining contexts. It exists in versions allowing it to be delivered to anything from a single class to a whole school – and its digital formats allow you to choose to either present it in one discrete block – or over the course of a number of days. If all the activities we provide were undertaken, classes would be engaged for between two and three hours.

The digital pack includes;

  • Two short films from Benny Factor, to open and close the adventure
  • A PowerPoint-based, whole-class budgeting activity (all age-differentiated)
  • Printable Question and Answer Sheets for a range of money-based maths questions (all age-differentiated)
  • Two money-based literacy activities (with printable Writing Frameworks)

As Creatives Live!

The following workshops can be delivered "live" in your classroom via Zoom (or any digital platform your school is using). Visit our CSI: Live page here. Workshops to choose from include:

CSI: Storyland: mixing storytelling with maths (EYFS – Year 2/P1 – P3) …

CSI: Michaela Maths: using a range of mathematical skills to solve a dastardly crime (Years 3 – 6/P4 – 7) …

CSI: Bake Off: using the fuel of fractions (and, for older pupils, percentages) to clear up some trouble in the kitchen-based crime (Years 3 – 6/P4 – 7) …

CSI: Reading Skills: where skimming and scanning, inference and deduction and reading for context and comprehension will help MI5 out of a tight spot (crime (Years 3 – 6/P4 – 7)

Poetry Live! These workshops last up to an hour at a time – and, as they can lead to poems on any subject of your choice, they provide a fantastic way of linking poetry to other areas of the curriculum! After being introduced to one of our favourite poems and the subject of theirs, pupils will be guided through a drama activity designed to support them in developing their ideas. Experimenting with rhyme, rhythm and pace, they’ll then get the opportunity to write and perform their own verses. Younger children will contribute to some collaborative poetry – with older pupils composing their own Character Clerihews! (EYFS - KS3 / P1 - S3)

I just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful workshops last week. So many children and staff have come to me to say how much they enjoyed their workshop so I am pleased it has been a success!! It was so great to see the children apply their maths outside of the classroom and use their skills in a different way. Thanks so much! (Canary Wharf College)
