Having worked with LJMU’s PGCE students since 2009 on programmes designed to model and bring to life “active learning”, we were really pleased to be asked earlier this year to extend the partnership by designing and piloting a similar piece of work for trainees on the four-year course.
This year that’s to be taken another step forward, with all KS2/3 specialists taking a mandatory module combining input from the university’s lecturers, a series of CPD sessions with as creatives and a placement at Jaguar Landrover. This innovative addition to the undergraduate experience will see trainees given a structured opportunity to experience what a creative classroom looks and feels like, see modelled a range of the innovative methodologies developed by as creatives, reflect actively on how to transfer these to their own practices – and develop their own lesson plans.
“A very valuable pogramme. The skills learnt over the last two days are integral to teaching practice and should be included in all lessons!” (Trainee Teacher, Liverpool John Moores University)
